Wellspring provides counseling using a variety of techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, experiential art therapies and equine-assisted therapy. Wellspring's holistic approach to mental health encourages clients to address the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, behavioral and spiritual aspects of their lives. Therapists have expertise in treating issues such as anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, depression, marital and family difficulties, addiction and other areas of desired change.
In addition to traditional weekly therapy, we also offer therapy in an intensive format of two or more full days in order to begin and end treatment without ongoing time commitments. We are committed to help hurting individuals and encourage donations for our scholarship fund to help those with limited resources.
Trauma Resolution Programs
Wellspring offers a variety of trauma informed therapeutic and wellness-inspired programs that are tailored to assist individuals in overcoming traumatic life experiences. Wellspring therapists have advanced training in trauma informed treatments and care. Individual treatments include Trauma-Informed Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP), Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and EMDR. EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a trauma specific therapy tool which combines elements from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential and body-centered therapy to form an information processing therapy that is most well-known for its ability to process unresolved trauma. These services are specifically offered to human trafficking victims, veterans, and traumatized youth, but are also provided to anyone who is still negatively affected by a prior traumatic experience. In addition to individual therapy, Wellspring offers curriculums to address related aspects of trauma. The Circle of Truth curriculum teaches steps resolving negative experiences and is designed to inspire the attendees to be intentionally honest with themselves in all aspects of their lives. The Intentional Listening workshops are designed to train lay-persons in the healing art of listening, specifically to witness and assist a traumatized individual in resolving a specific experience. Wellness workshops are also offered throughout the community on various topics.
Wellspring has now added the innovative use of horses as one of its experiential counseling approaches. Clients of all ages are able to learn and address behavioral, emotional, traumatic, and relationship issues while interacting with horses. Horses provide a unique opportunity for counseling in that they read emotional states and relate to individuals accordingly. Horses are social, which provides endless opportunities to practice relationship skills. They also respond to present behaviors only, and not those of the past or future, giving clients many opportunities to change and practice new behaviors. In addition, horses add fun to the experiential learning of skills such as confidence building and problem solving.
We also use horses to help resolve negative life experiences and traumas and help bring about healing. Wellspring therapists, specially trained in working with horses, partner with Winding Paths Equestrian to provide this unique counseling approach.
BOUNCE! Trauma Resolution Program
Regrettably, bad things happen to innocent children. Fortunately, they don't have to affect them forever. BOUNCE! Trauma and Grief Resolution Programs for children and adolescents are designed to assist youth to bounce back from traumatic life experiences such as abuse, violence, death of loved one, or serious illness.
BOUNCE! Programs are packaged therapeutic experiences, which include trauma and grief education, group therapy, individual therapy, and experiential learning such as art and equine-assisted psychotherapy.
Participants are referred through partner programs and screened for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and appropriate placement, which ensures continuity of care and enhances positive outcomes.
The goal of BOUNCE! is to relieve and prevent emotional suffering, and to promote “post-traumatic growth” of traumatized children and their families.
BOUNCE! is offered by professional therapists at a Wellspring Counseling site in either an intensive one-week format or as an after-school program. The program includes evidence-based treatments as well as pre and post assessments contributing to a growing body of positive statistics making the program itself evidence-based.
Wellspring solicits financial support for its Bounce participants who generally have no ability to pay for this unique therapeutic program.
Ministry to Ministers
The Ministry 2 Ministers program offers counseling and training in order to support leaders who serve others, such as directors of ministries and service organizations, pastors and missionaries. We provide scholarships for individual and family counseling, mental health training opportunities, support groups, educational resources, and retreats in order to sustain these leaders in their callings, and to multiply their efforts. Wellspring staff are uniquely qualified to address the personal and cultural issues of those who serve others because many of the Wellspring staff are themselves in ministry, married to ministers, or come from families who serve others. Ministry leaders encounter many of the same life struggles as those they serve; however, their opportunities and options for assistance can be very limited. Often, the culture, expectations and isolation of being a leader in ministry, financial limits and personal or marital issues, create blocks to healthy support.
