Door to door Outreach
Targeted door-to-door outreach in neighborhoods with median incomes at 250% of the poverty level; (5) five month-long outreach campaigns in Miami-Dade County using trained volunteer breast and heart health advocates canvas targeted neighborhoods, provide every household with breast and heart health educational packages containing the early detection guidelines, pertinent resources, while scheduling qualified women to receive screenings. At the end of each month long campaign, mobile mammography and clinicians provide mammograms, cholesterol and hypertension screenings. In the interim, women participate in physical activity and nutrition sessions and upon completion of all services, they receive a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables along with a healthy eating guide. One month after each outreach visit, participants are contacted to participate in a survey which gauges our effectiveness.
Qualified women living outside of targeted neighborhoods contact our office, are referred to collaborative medial partners for breast & heart screening and are navigated through the process. Any women requiring requisite care are provided with the required referrals and are navigated through the process.
On-Going Recommended Screening Program
All women previously screened receive though our programs receive ongoing screening through collaborating partners. Any women requiring requisite care are provided with the required referrals and are navigated through the process.
