Contemporary Dance Heat Wave -- Coral Gables Museum
CONTEMPORARY DANCE HEAT WAVE featuring a group of solo performances titled “Women for Women Dances” celebrates the creativity of women composers who were met with resistance in their goal of freedom to compose, perform and have their works performed. The pieces are choreographed by Peter London and guest choreographers Justin Rapaport (Ballet BC. Vancouver), Jacqueline Bulnes (José Limón Dance Company, New York), and Melissa Fernandez (Ballet Hispanico, NY).

Peter London Global Dance Company with The Company Dance Theatre of Jamaica presents "ATLANTIC CROSSING”
The Peter London Global Dance Company presents its First International Cultural Dance Exchange to celebrate the common ground of artists everywhere in pursuit of freedom via creative expression. Our first program entitled "ATLANTIC CROSSING” will celebrate the survival of the cultural expressions of dance and music in the African Diaspora with a joint performance of PLGDC and The Company Dance Theatre (CDT) of Jamaica. This performance will take place at 4:00 p.m. on October 21, 2018 at the Miramar Cultural Center. While the program will celebrate the retention of African dance and music in the new world and that of the Caribbean, contributions of contemporary dance developed by Caribbean dance masters will be a force in the dance performance.

PLGDC dancers will cross the Caribbean seas to join in a dynamic performance with The Company Dance Theatre in Kingston, Jamaica.

WOMEN'S VOICES & MEN'S HEARTS TO WOMEN celebrates the lives of women in a spectacular & singular performance event of the season with the creative voices of women choreographers and composers whose music found production resistance in their early careers. This stunningly powerful & electrifying performance event by an all Miami group of choreographers & dancers includes male choreographers celebrating the significant contribution of women in their lives.
Sharron Lynn Williams former artist with AILEY II & The Lion King will perform a powerhouse solo work, AILEY star, Jamar Roberts's new work is a duet danced by Martha Graham principal dancer, Lloyd Knight & company dancer Leon Cobb, Overtown Center artist, Kashia Kancey electrifying & unapologetic new work is based on the lives of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth & Rosa Parks, as well as her "WAR OF THE WOMEN"; a tour de force of unbridled resistance & unflinching athleticism.
Included in this thrilling explosion of creative power is South Florida's cutting-edge choreographic artists & phenomenal dancers Jacqueline Bulnes, artist with Limon Dance Company & former Martha Graham soloist, Melissa Fernandez of Ballet Hispanico NYC, Justin Rapaport of Ballet BC. Vancouver, Gentry Isaiah George, Zest Collective founding Artistic Director & former artist with Dance Theater of Harlem and AILEY II. Herman Payne will perform and create new work for PLGDC male dancers.
