Learn & Earn
The Little Lighthouse Foundation's focus is providing hands on volunteer opportunities for individuals to support at-risk youth throughout South Florida. These programs, which include specific activities (i.e. Craft Night, Story Hour) are tailored to our partner facilities with the goal of providing positive experimental exchanges. For our Learn & Earn program, we work with local schools to provide free tutoring to under privileges 6th grade students focused on standardized testing and areas of need, with targeted motivation and inspiration.
Adopt-A-Meal at the Ronald McDonald House Charities
The Little Lighthouse Foundation provides dinners to children and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House multiple times a month. Volunteers either prepare their favorite foods on site, or help serve a sponsored meal from a local restaurant.
Additionally, in partnership with the Ronald McDonald House, the Little Lighthouse selects one family each month to attend a dinner out in the city, provided by our generous sponsorship from a local restaurant. The family receives transportation to and from the restaurant in addition to a full dinner.
Story Hour at the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless
The Little Lighthouse Foundation brings Story Hour to the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless every week to entertain and educate the children with group reading and arts & crafts activities. Children are encouraged to read aloud to the group as well and complete associated crafts once story time concludes.
Adopt-A-Floor at Holtz Children's Hospital
The Little Lighthouse Foundation's Adopt-A-Floor program visits the Holtz Children's hospital's 5th & 6th floors to provide a variety of games and entertainment to the youth patients as they await or undergo treatment.
Volunteer activities include arts & crafts, board games, themed parties, live music, and supporting entertainers in putting on a show. Volunteers visit the bedsides of children who are unable to come to the play room to ensure that no child goes unnoticed.
