Margaux Early Childhood School
Our Early Childhood Program holds as its fundamental and basic goal to provide quality education to families of all faiths in an atmosphere of security and love. Serving children ages 18 months to Pre-K, Margaux School’s approach is one of a full circle of connections — with the child at the center and the faculty and family surrounding them with support, enthusiasm, and love. Working with parents as our partners, our goals are to help young children develop a positive sense of self, cultivate a love of learning, build skills of self-care and self-regulation, honor their spiritual identities. We believe in the competency of all children. By providing a positive, engaging secure setting, we give every child the opportunity to discover his/her whole self in relation to the world around them.
The Margaux School provides need-based scholarship.
Temple Judea Youth program for grades K-12th is an integral element of Temple Judea. The youth groups are active in the Temple and community at large and includes social, educational, religious and cultural activities, social action and social justice-related components in their events. Teens have opportunities to attend regional and national events where teens join one another for weekends of Jewish learning, leadership development and fun.
An important aspect of our programming is our membership with the Union for Reform Judaism's national youth movement; the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). NFTY is comprised of over 450 youth groups spanning the United States and Canada and are divided into geographical regions.
Teens have the opportunity to meet other Jewish teens from around the state of Florida when they participate in regional events hosted by Temples in our region.
Need based youth receive scholarships to participate.
Shabbat En Español
Shabbat En Español is an opportunity to reach out to Spanish speaking members in our congregation and in the greater Miami Jewish and interfaith Community. This Shabbat Service begins at 7:45pm and includes customs and melodies from Latin America and is highly participatory, with congregants reading liturgy, leading blessings, even delivering the sermon. The service time is more convenient for many in the Latin community than our regular 6:00pm Shabbat Service. Both times we offered Shabbat En Español, the service was well attended with over 100 attendees each time. We offer four of these services next year.
The majority of the worship attendees come especially to be part of this worship experience. Designed as an intergenerational experience, some families come with three generations to celebrate Shabbat En Español together. The service concludes with a Latin melody for the ritual blessing of the children. It is moving to see grandparents bless a son or daughter, who is blessing his or her own children.
Reaching out to those in need is central to Jewish life. The word mitzvah means commandment, and we perform these mitzvoth throughout the year. Yet, Mitzvah Day is very special at Temple Judea every year, because it is about more than doing a mitzvah. It is about our whole community reaching out to help others. It is about meeting new people within our community and building stronger bonds of friendship and community. It is about inspiring each other to do more, to help more, on this day and throughout the year. Children and families are invited to participate which Mitzvah Day a special learning experience for all generations.
A Caring Touch, Chesed Group
kindness, help the poor, feed the hungry, and visit the sick. Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) are acts that will mend our troubled and broken world.
Temple Judea has a chesed (loving kindness) group lovingly named: A Caring Touch. We are a task force offer just that, “a caring touch” during a time of need or a time of celebration: Delivery of meals and baked goods to families in need, home and hospital visits, hand-knitted healing wraps for home and hospital visits, rides to temple for Shabbat services and note cards and call. Our Creative Service for Healing and Renewal is a meditative and inspiring service open to all who are looking for a spiritually nurturing experience.
