Our free after school holistic program provides continuous social, emotional and academic support for girls beginning in grade 3 and continuing through high school. Our model includes parent, community and teacher engagement for the best outcomes. We collect and measure data using a variety of metrics to ensure our program is reaching its desired goals and creating a positive impact in the lives of girls and their families. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty by empowering girls to succeed in school. We believe that education is the key to developing employability skills that will earn wages above poverty. Our program of support will remove the limitations that poverty places for many girls from the moment they are born. Girls are in a unique position to become strong women who will pass down the value of education to their children, breaking the cycle of poverty once and for all. Our first program will begin this Fall at Beacon College Prep, a Title 1 Charter school in Opa-Locka and serves 30 3rd and 4th grade girls.

Social and emotional skill development is happening all the time all around us. We get intentional about it, guiding our girls to share their joys and challenges of friendship and teaching them the skills to work through emotional difficulties.
Beacon College Prep After School Program
Our free after school program combines academic support with social and emotional learning in a comprehensive approach to ensure overall well-being and academic success. Trained facilitators deliver a research-based curriculum that teaches girls the skills needed to better understand and navigate their emotions for better interpersonal and relational skills. Strong emotional skills leads to better decision-making and healthier choices. We meet everyday after school for 2.5 hours and in addition to academic and emotional support also include hands-on nutrition and fitness education. A diverse group of women professionals provide role model support while high-achieving high school and college students provide mentoring. Each month, we host a fun teacher, parent and family engagement event to bring together all of the people that influence the lives of girls in our program. By the time girls in our program reach high school, they will have been with us for 6 years preparing for even the toughest obstacles and challenges. With our support, girls will continue to succeed through high school and beyond.
