South Florida Interfaith Worker Justice

LAST UPDATED: October 11, 2016
Faith Based Organizations
SFIWJ's mission is to involve the faith community in issues that will improve the wages, benefits, and employment conditions of workers, especially low-wage workers, in South Florida. Successes have included working with the Wage Theft Task Force to establish the first county-wide Wage Theft Ordinance in the country, which has since been followed by other Florida ordinances in Broward and Alachua Counties. These ordinances aid workers in collecting unpaid wages. Some of our other efforts include establishing the South Florida Council on Occupational Safety and Health in order to ensure safe and productive working environments. Our vision is that workers and employers will have mutually beneficial relationships that recognize the dignity of work and of the workers who do that work.
