Community Development includes the construction of a Family Life Center. This new age construction project will house several programs and services that cater to the needs of families, adults, teens, and youth. We are currently in the campaign endowment and pre-development stage, with a projected completion date of 2017. The Center will include: A Gymnasium, Classrooms, Meeting Rooms, Auditorium, Computer Lab, and a Black Box Theater.
SBC CDC Youth Zone (Youth & Educational Services)
SBC CDC implemented a co-brand called SBC Youth Zone that encompasses all education and youth service programs.
The goal of the various programs is for SBC Youth Zone to offer opportunities for kids to obtain a successful academic foundation through: After School Services with Certified & Retired Teachers, Tutorial Services, Homework Completion & Project Assistance, Standardized Test Preparation, and access to a Resource Center with accelerated reading books, laptops, and other essential educational materials.
In addition, SBC CDC pours into our youth a new mindset on living, creativity, originality, and purpose. The focus is to encourage the youth to strive for a lifestyle of excellence through year round out-of-school camps that include Recreation & Sports, STEM & Robotics, Mentoring, Career Placement, Life Skills, Enrichment Projects, Humanities, Cultural Arts, Visual & Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Art & Drama), Community Service Projects, and Work Experiences.
SBC CDC Human Services includes the development of a 79 units Senior Residential Apartments complex. The affordable housing was financed in a substantial part with Miami-Dade County funding, and SBC CDC partnered with Cornerstone Group Development Corporation.
Additional Human Services programs include - Health & Wellness Services, Adult & Senior Services, Food Services, Recreational Activities, Social Services, and Transportation Services.
