Passageway Adult Mental Health has served Florida’s mentally ill population since its founding more than 30 years ago in 1979. Our mission is to provide supervised treatment to severe and persistent, chronically mentally ill individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system. The program is designed to facilitate the client’s transition from a hospital or penal institution in to an independent, less restrictive environment and help them achieve control over their mental illness and/or any co-occurring disorders.
Our program is licensed as a Residential Level II Facility by AHCA.
Passageway is a smoke free facility.
Provides assessment, service planning, and links the clients with additional services needed in the community. Passageway utilizes an intensive case management model. As a result, all case managers handle case loads of less than 15 clients. The case managers create a personalized Service Plan for each client based on his or her strengths, need, abilities, preferences, as well as medical necessities.
Provides assessment, treatment planning, group therapy, and helps clients develop the skills needed to re-enter the community. Passageway offers both Behavioral Health Day Treatment (BHDT) and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) services daily. We draw from an evidence based curriculum formulated to treat severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
Clients receive various opportunities to learn vocational trades ranging from kitchen work, basic repairs and maintenance, janitorial work, inventory and cash box management, and other skills and occupations.
Passageway follows an approach that favors a high degree of collaboration and communication among health professionals. Clients are linked and transported to primary care services, assisted with self-administration of medication, and educated about nutrition and exercise. Blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, and weight are recorded depending on the needs of the client.
Medication Management & Individual Therapy
Each client is assigned a personal staff Psychiatrist who helps them by managing medication and providing treatment as needed by the client.
Clients who require additional help will have the opportunity to meet with one of our staff therapists, who have extensive experience in dealing with co-occurring disorders and individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
