Learn more about the dynamics of the Overtown Youth Center!
Witness our students learn and engage with Alexander Mijares & Martin Garrix.
Our VISION is to expose youth to numerous resources and opportunities that will aid in their educational and social development so they will ultimately become positive contributing citizens (PCCs). OYC defines PCCs as students who have entered into a post-secondary educational institution, vocational school, and/or obtained gainful employment, and are making a worthwhile impact in their local community.
Our after school programs are designed to maximize students' exposure to STEAM; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math.
In-School Coordinators provide daily case management of and advocacy for OYC participants within their schools and within the community, tracking scholastic achievement, attendance, and behavior of the students.
After School Program
The after school programming is broken into several periods. During the first period, students work on homework in a classroom setting with their In-School Coordinator and receive tutorial help as needed.
OYC's summer program offers daily educational enrichment activities designed to maintain and/or increase student grade level and motivation, with the understanding that children's scholastic levels often can decrease during the long vacation.
This program is designed to improve parental effectiveness by providing a clear parenting philosophy and a set of skills and strategies that can be used immediately to address a variety of child-rearing challenges and problems.
The Post-High School Program provides support for students who have come up through the agency after they have graduated from high school. Students in the post high program continue to be supported through to the age of 25.
