The funds raised during the Give Miami Day Campaign this year will be used to assist Our Lady of the Lakes School in implementing its challenging STREAM Program that is focused on the integration of Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics through student-directed, project-based experiential instruction.
For this purpose , the upcoming Maker Space in the Technology Lab will receive the following:
1) a teleprompter, camera, and camcorder for its broadcasting program, 2) a Makerbot Replicator 2x/3D printer,
3) five MAC Computers, and
4) the video game design program “Bloxel Builder” (a hands-on platform for kids to build, collaborate, and tell stories through video game creation, consisting of 20 Bloxel Classroom packs, 5 Bloxel Team Builder packs, and a Bloxel block set), and
5) four EV3 Robots for the OLL Robotics program, which placed first at the St. Thomas Aquinas Junior Raider Robotics Competition last year.
In addition, available funds will make it possible to purchase 50 iPads along with 7 charging lock boxes to be used in the Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade classrooms.
The estimated cost for the items listed above is $40,300.00.
Thank you in advance for helping our students STREAM into success!
