Benjamin is waiting to be adopted! Like most boys his age, Benjamin has a very healthy appetite, and he can name off quite a few favorites: burgers, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and corn on the cob, always topped off with a heaping bowl of ice cream for dessert.
Jennifer is a bright, fun-loving girl and is eligible for adoption. She likes to write and enjoys arts and crafts. Her proudest accomplishment to date has been learning to ride a bike and now that's become one of her favorite pastimes.
Foster Parent Recruitment
When children are removed from their home due to safety concerns resulting from abuse or neglect, and there are no relatives willing and able to care for them, we NEED foster parent. There is a huge shortage of available foster families in our community. Your donations will assist us in our recruitment efforts so that we can reach more people willing and able to open their hearts and their homes to our children in foster care - giving them a safe, nurturing and caring place to call home.
We are always looking for adoptive parents. Most adults who can provide a stable, loving home for a child or children can adopt. There is a great need for adoptive families who have the patience and ability to parent teenagers, large sibling groups and children with special needs.
Foster Parent Support
Being a foster parent is no easy task. Our Kids provides our foster parents with initial and ongoing trainings in order to prepare and equip them for the challenges they will encounter. We can all relate that living in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties is not cheap, especially when you have a large family. Our Kids arranges Family Fun Days for our foster and adoptive families to be able to enjoy the sites, attractions and activities available in our community. These activities give the children a chance experience our community in ways they otherwise would not, and also allow our families to bond and connect with their youth and each other. Your donation will help us fund Family Fun Days so that our children can create unforgettable memories of a happy childhoods.
Transitioning Youth Services
The Transitioning Youth Services program is aimed to improve outcomes for older youth in foster care and young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. According to national statistics, more than 50% of youth that age out of foster care end up homeless, on drugs and/or in jail. Your donations will go towards programs and services that assistance to our youth in building bright futures and becoming successful, self-confident adults. In additional to financial assistance to help them stay in school and be able to focus on their ongoing education, they receive free tuition to any state university or vocational program. We also help them with school related supplies and basic living expenses.
