STARS (Seniors That Are Raising Standards) is an acronym we use to describe the students who have been chosen as result of their hard work and efforts to be rewarded an ultimate prom experience. Occasional Closet meets with the activities director of the school or organization in order to properly choose the seniors who are most deserving. Every year we do our best to raise awareness and host FUNdrasing events to help as many senior high school students as possible. This experience will encourage and enlighten our STARS to continue to lead by example and shine in the community.
Senior Moments is a program where we connect high school seniors with senior citizens of the community through The City of Miami Beach, in order to bridge the generation gap. We will recreate senior high school events for the senior citizens such as prom and senior breakfast, as well as coordinate interactive activities. The goal of these activities is to encourage students to be compassionate and prove that their choice to volunteer is one of importance and will make an impact on the community. The program, correspondingly, serves as a resource to fulfill volunteer requirements for the students.
Pay it Forward
Aside from giving high school seniors a premium shopping experience, we also encourage them to pay it forward. This involves students within the program to donate goods, services, and their time to other non-profit organizations and/or those in need within the community. This exercise will cause our youth to be mindful of how many others are in need of love and attention. Paying it forward will also give our high school seniors a sense of fulfillment, in knowing they took part in making a difference.
