On-Line GED Preparation
ON-LINE GED PREPARATION RESOURCES
One of the Center’s highlights is its Online GED preparation computer application program. The program currently provides youth and young adults between the age of 16 and 24 with a personal passcode to our GED online Computer application from LearningExpress. Our GED online prep computer application is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our Online GED prep program also provides Individualized Assessment, one on one support, free GED resources and links. The GED/Diploma program has allowed enrollees to progress to the next stage of their future goals without obstruction, whether that is college/university, Vocational training, Military services or entering the workforce.
The computer literacy program provides our participants with basic computer training in order to prepare them for the 21 Century computer age. Moreover, ensures that the participant can access the information and tools that they need to be more competitive in today’s society. Our Mobile Educational Resource Bus has 5 computer work stations with internet access thereby allowing the participant to search for employment, and study for their GED/Workforce skills. .
Transition to Succeed
This newly designed program was created based on personal interaction, developed relationships and extensive experience working with transitioning foster care youth and young adults between the age of 16-24. Transitioning to Succeed program provides transitioning foster care youth and young adults with an individualized assessment, life and vision case plan/vision board, intensive hands on life skills, computer training , one on one support throughout their transition, job preparation, resume , and education assistance.
Career Planning/Workforce Development
The Career planning support program is the heartbeat of the Resource and Support Center. This program is offered year round and currently provides youths and young adults who have successfully obtained their GED/Diploma with an in-depth educational and career assessment which includes a list of career options such as Colleges/Universities, local Technical Schools as well as Military Consultant referrals. The participants in this program have the opportunity to decide which career path would be best for them based on their career assessment that is conducted as well as the participant’s desires. Furthermore, one of the key features of this program is that the participants are given the opportunity to become actively involved in their educational and career goals. The Career Planning program also provides one on one life skill classes, resume assistance, interviewing skills, and money management.
High School Re-entry/ Recovery/Diploma Assistance
HIGH SCHOOL RE-ENTRY/RECOVERY/DIPLOMA ASSISTANCE
The Center’s most emphasized program is its High school re-entry services, within this program the center locates individuals in the Miami-Dade County that have dropped out of high school. Participants in this program are between the ages of 16-18 and are eligible for high school re-entry. A one on one consultation with the student is conducted to discern why he/she has decided to terminate their education and swiftly resolve the issue whether it is in the form of referrals to mental health counseling, mentoring programs, or by contacting the Department of Children and Families, once enrolled back into school the student is provided homework assistance, mentorship, continued reinforcement and guidance to their high school diploma. Also monthly staffing with the school counselor and parent.
