Mundo Art's mission is to work together with communities to empower and enrich children and families by exposing them to international culture and art. Mundo Art goes beyond techniques; it immerses them in the entire cultural context of world music, movement, history, and languages.
Our main program is "Criança de Ouro", where our goal is to teach capoeira to the children in the community of Little Haiti. Capoeira is a brazilian martial art, which combines elements of self defense, dance, music, coordination, rhythm, language and culture.

Some of the children in the Criança de Ouro program in Little Haiti have been participating for four even five years!
In addition to the regular classes, we hold an annual "batizado e troca de cordãos" for the kids - the "baptism and changing of cords." This is the initiation into capoeira for those just starting, and a recognition of dedication for those who have been with the program for more time.
For the annual event, guests come from around the United States and the world to teach the kids.
