With funding from the Ocean Reef Community Foundation, this program works with children who are victims of domestic and or sexual violence or who have witnessed familial abuse. A seven-week program helps children identify violence and speak and deal about their experiences as well as learning how to stay safe when violence occurs in the home.
The Serenity Project
"The most important thing that I learned in the Serenity group was to get my life back. I learned how to deal with things that I can't control and have nothing to do with me. The group changed my life forever. Thank you and I love the team at MUJER - keep rockin' the group." Serenity participant.
This project utilizes a holistic approach to working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, as well as with children over the age of 12, who have suffered from sexual abuse. The program incorporates a 10 week program called serenity that includes yoga, mindfulness, nutrition and other similar topics. Weekly support groups are open to anyone and are held at Serenity House in the Redland Center.
Emergency Assistance Program
"After many years of abuse, one day I decided to leave and I did. I left with the clothes on my back and with my children. I came to MUJER and they were able to find me temporary shelter, pay for an apartment in addition to supplying food and clothing certificates. I don't know what I would have done without the help and compassion of the MUJER team!" L.M.
