Nationally recognized for our groundbreaking adaptations of children’s literature from around the world, we celebrate theater as a vehicle for entertainment, education, and inspiration. Each year, MTC is grateful for the opportunity to engage thousands of Miami-Dade County public and private school students and teachers through our dynamic programming and robust educational opportunities at schools and in our theater. By providing everything from innovative learning workshops, thought-provoking theater work, film screenings and artistic specialty camps, MTC strives to spark dialogue among young audiences and encourage an acceptance of a diversity of perspectives.
InSchool - One of the many ways we share the power of theater is through our workshops for elementary, middle and high school students. Students will learn about what it takes to create theater, play theater games and create an original scene.
MTC OnCall Program
OnCall - Joy. Laughter. The healing power of theater. MTC's teaching artists deliver all of that and more to seriously ill children and teenagers when they visit our area hospitals.
MTC offers Specialty Camps during the Winter, Spring and Summer school vacations where kids and teens collaborate with our team of highly skilled teaching artists to write, produce and perform in their own original plays.
MTC Community Partnerships
MTC serves over 2,000 public and private school kids in the Miami-Dade area providing interactive workshops and field trips for young people to experience live performance and film. During our season, we will partner with The Miami Light House School for the Blind in Little Havana, delivering theater arts programming in combination with their pioneering Early Learning Coalition program for three and four-year-olds. Through our program, blind and partially sighted children will have access to the theater through audio enhancement and sensory involvement for the first time. In spring of 2018, MTC will also partner with staff and residents at the brand-new Lotus Village women's shelter in Overtown. A team of highly skilled teaching artists will work in collaboration with the residents to create a multi-arts-disciplinary performance piece for our main stage offering voice and visibility opportunities for the women.
