Center for Men
Provides 320 beds for programs, which include emergency services, long-term residential care, and transitional housing. On average, 170 men per day are involved in the 12 to 24 month intensive program of education, counseling, life-skills development, and career/job assistance. Graduates become employed and obtain affordable housing.
Center for Women and Children
Center for Women and Children is a 45-bed facility, serves homeless women and single mothers with small children. A comprehensive program is designed to equip the women to become successful, contributing members of society through classes in anger management, computer education, work skills training, and parenting classes. Those with children are instructed to become loving, supportive mothers to their children through coping and parenting skills. Graduates obtain employment and affordable housing.
Jeffrey A. Tew Education and Career Center
This program will teach the illiterate to read and write and can take them to GED level. The anticipated outcomes are attainment of a ninth grade reading level, eighth grade business math, and general computer competencies. The students that successfully complete the educational requirements move on to the Career Employment Services. CES main focus is for development of job search skills, additional employment skills, adjustment to the workforce, budgeting and aftercare. Many students continue their education, receiving their high school diploma, entering college, or gaining specialized skills training for job placement.
Miami Community Activity Center
The Activity Center provides preventative programs for adjoining neighborhood children and youth. Through athletic and tutorial programs, over 120 children are served in afternoon and weekend programs during the school year. In the summer the CAC holds a Summer Camp that provides daily activities for over 140 children that otherwise would be left at home unattended. The activities provided are athletics, tutoring, learn to swim, arts and crafts, and special field trips are part of the program and more. Various volunteer groups provide specialized events for the children. The Center is also home to a private day school - CARE Elementary - which opened in 2015.
Broward Outreach Centers
Miami Rescue Mission operates two centers for the homeless and needy located in Broward County. Services began in 1992 and include a Hollywood and Pompano Beach Campus. 360 men, women,and children are enrolled in the residential programs as well as those seeking emergency services. Program material is similar to the classes and life skills of the Miami Centers.
