MMC by the Sea
Funded by The Miami Foundation's Public Space Challenge, MMC by the Sea is a site-specific series of music and performance events taking place in North Shore Open Space Park on Miami Beach. MMC by the Sea will invite diverse communities to experience music and performance—the kind that is normally relegated to museums, galleries and music venues—in an outdoor space of sand dunes, sea grape trees, and breaking surf (free of charge). The series will advocate for responsible environmental stewardship and will bring greater attention to the park across a diverse community of cultural producers and audiences.
Cassette imprint "2100"
In addition to Miami Music Club's events programming are the music releases of its imprint, “2100.” Launched in early 2016 with the release of Dim Past’s "Wei Yu Ghost," this output consists of small runs of cassette tapes by Miami and regional musicians. Part of the Club’s mission lies in not only giving performers a venue, but providing the resources for dispersing their music on both traditional and new media platforms and increasing the visibility of Miami’s underground musical happenings. The tapes themselves will be sold at MMC events and at local institutions along with being sent to national and international distros. Each tape will include a digital download and digital copies of the recordings will also be made available for purchase online by the greater global audience. Each offering produced under the “2100” imprint will also be accompanied by a “Release Show” dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the artist’s new work.
Nomadic Music and Performance Programming
Recently funded by the Knight Foundation, Miami Music Club will continue serve the creative community by creating a space for underground, experimental music that bridges the gap between the city’s art and music scenes. Through collaborations with local artists, musicians, and institutions, MMC has produced a continuous, eclectic series of programming spanning musical performances, film screenings, visual art exhibitions, site-specific installations, and dance parties.
