Miami Dade College (MDC) Foundation raises awareness and financial resources for the College to maintain open-door access to anyone who wants an education, and to provide innovative and multicultural academic and cultural programs; all of which contribute to the vitality of our community.
Miami Dade College is an open-access institution that offers the opportunity of education to all who seek it, regardless of financial or academic barriers. Two thirds of MDC students are low-income, and nearly half live in poverty. With the lowest tuition rates of any college or university in Miami-Dade County, MDC brings higher education within reach for anyone who seeks it.
Known as "Democracy's College," MDC mirrors South Florida’s diversity, with an international faculty and staff that serves a majority-minority student body. It is No. 1 nationwide in conferring associate degrees to Hispanic students and No. 2 nationwide in conferring associate degrees to black students.
As an Ashoka U Campus, social responsibility and changemaking are at the heart of the College's mission, walking the walk to ensure students have all the tools they need to become the change they want to see in the world.
MDC raises families out of poverty, ranking No. 2 in Florida for social mobility in The New York Times' 2017 social mobility index. Numbering more than 2 million since its founding in 1960, MDC alumni live, work, invest in and contribute to South Florida’s vibrant community.
