For 60 years Global Ties Miami, formerly the Miami Council for International Visitors (MCIV), has fostered global friendships and has shaped US foreign relations through the acts of citizen diplomats.
As the official host of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, our mission is to promote, sponsor and facilitate programs that provide people-to-people exchange between emerging foreign leaders in business, government and civil society and their South Florida peers.
Our exchange programs have included:
• Entrepreneurs from across Africa, Haiti, Spain &
Kyrgyzstan
• Engineers & environmentalists from Latin America
• Park conservationists from India
• Bankers & financiers from Turkmenistan and Guinea-
Bissau
• Disability rights advocates from Uzbekistan and
Taiwan
Through these carefully crafted peer-to-peer experiences, our foreign visitors form an intimate, first-hand understanding of the US, its people, its culture and its society.
At Global Ties Miami we know that citizen diplomacy starts with a handshake and we hope this Give Miami Day you will lend us yours!

Our paid internship program will provide high schools, universities and post graduate students with the unique opportunity to experience diplomacy up close.
With your help, we will be able to offer our interns stipends on the successful completion of their internship, valuing their hard work and engaging them at a deeper level in our organization's efforts to make our community and the world richer, more informed, more tolerant, and more peaceful.

Dinner Diplomacy
4/4
As a Global Ties Miami member, you can open your home to a foreign leader who visits South Florida on one of our programs. Home hospitality is an important component of many of our exchange itineraries. It provides foreign visitors with a deeper understanding and appreciation of our country and region, while allowing South Florida locals to foster global friendships and experience different cultures. Our visitors are emerging leaders from around the world. Many of our graduates have become heads of state and Nobel prize winners. By hosting a visitor in your home, you may just be sharing a meal and forging a friendship with a future President or Prime Minister!
