GROWING LEARNERS PROGRAM (3, 4 & 5 YEARS OLD)
MCI's Growing Learners program designed for young children in Liberty City is a transition program for children who will be entering Pre-K or Kindergarten in the fall of 2018. Launched as a pilot in 2015, Growing Learners is designed to ensure that children retain learned skills over the summer months and enhance their learning experiences during the school year to better able them to enter pre-k and kindergarten ready to learn.
PROJECT PROMISE (K-5)
To provide an after school program targeting one hundred and twenty (120) students at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center in grades K-5 who will receive academic and personal enrichment services including academic remediation, homework assistance, tutoring, mentoring, Project Based Learning, social skills training, arts education, and physical fitness
PROMISING FUTURES - NEXT GENERATION (6-8)
Promising Futures- Next Generation provides after school and summer programming for middle school students at Charles R Drew K-8 Center. Students in grades 6-8 receive academic and personal enrichment services including: academic remediation, homework assistance, tutoring, mentoring, Project Based Learning, social emotional learning, and college/career readiness. Program activities are designed to complement and enrich school day learning, and include reading; STEAM; coding, robotics, entrepreneurship, character education; Project Based Learning, social-emotional learning, arts education, nutrition education, and physical fitness.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM/PROMISING FUTURES PROGRAM
MCI's Youth Development Program was created as a response to the needs of our Liberty City youth. Launched in July 2015, the youth employment program currently serves 50 youth year round, with an eight-week summer internship. The majority of the youth in the program reside on eight (8) blocks within MCI's Impact Zone in Liberty City. The Youth Employment Program is one of many opportunities provided to children under MCI's "cradle-to-college-to-career" continuum of solutions that is based on the nationally-recognized Harlem Children's Zone model. MCI's mission is to create a community-based network that develops, coordinates, and provides quality education, accessible health care, youth development programs, opportunities for employment, and safe neighborhoods for children and families residing in Liberty City. MCI's continuum of solutions connects children and their families to an intensive and cohesive health, education and social services network.
ADULT COLLEGE AND CAREER TRACKS
There is tremendous talent in Liberty City. MCI's College & Career Development Program works with residents to unlock this potential by supporting them one-on-one in accomplishing career goals. MCI assists residents with their job search and provides support as they obtain their GED and continue their education. Specifically, we provide support with the following: resume assistance, job search, source jobs openings, transportation, professional attire, mock interviews, seal/expung
