MBCHC pharmacies have special pricing and free medication is available for patients through pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs for those who qualify.
Immune Support Program
Miami Beach Community Health Center is one of the largest providers of HIV/AIDS services in Miami-Dade County. The Immune Support Program provides a one-stop shop for the medical, social and medication needs of HIV/AIDS patients. Comprehensive services include counseling, testing and linkage to care, psychosocial services, nutritional services, Project AIDS Care (PAC) Waiver Case Manager Services, AIDS Insurance Continuation Program (AICP), Insurance Services, and Transportation Vouchers.
Healthy Start Prenatal Care Program
The Healthy Start prenatal care program serves all pregnant women with prenatal classes, case management, home visits, and baby showers. Funded by the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade, Healthy Start provides education on parenting, childbirth, breastfeeding, smoking cessation, and interconceptional health. The goals of the program are to reduce infant mortality, reduce the number of low birth weight and pre-term births, and improve maternal and child health developmental outcomes.
Healthy Start Care Coordinators offer and conduct prenatal risk screens to all pregnant patients, identifying psychosocial risk factors that place women at risk of a poor pregnancy outcome. Educational services are provided throughout the duration of the pregnancy and through the baby’s first year of life. Since 2004, Miami Beach Community Health Center has received the Award of Excellence in Maternal, Infant, and Child Health from the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade for offering Healthy Start screenings to pregnant women and obtaining a 95% or higher consent rate.
Outreach & Enrollment
Miami Beach Community Health Center is an Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) certified outreach and enrollment site. Our outreach and enrollment staff can enroll clients through the health insurance Marketplace, or in Medicaid or KidCare depending on their eligibility. As a DCF ACCESS community partner, coordinators at each location assist patients and others apply for public assistance programs such as Medicare, KidCare, and SNAP (food stamps). We educate clients who are not eligible for any of these options about the services available at the health center and its sliding fee discount program.
Diagnostic, preventive, and restorative oral health services are provided at MBCHC’s Stanley C. Myers Center on Miami Beach and at the North Miami Center. Additional oral health services include rehabilitative treatments (crowns, dentures), endodontics (root canals), and periodontal treatments (scaling and root planning, deep cleanings, crown lengthening, and gingivectomies).
