REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT SERVICES
Through the help of friends like you, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) has served more than 200,000 refugees and immigrants since 1982. Whether they’ve fled religious or political persecution LSF helps newcomers from all regions of the world resettle in communities throughout Florida.
Most refugees arrive with little more than the clothes they’re wearing, but they bring with them the dream of a better life. The LSF resettlement staff gives refugee families new hope and the opportunity to build a better future with freedom. With the support from LSF and the community, refugees move from being in the most difficult of situations to putting down roots and becoming integral members of our communities.
The ultimate goal of Refugee Resettlement Services is to help newcomers achieve economic self-sufficiency as quickly as possible through a variety of services that enable them to find employment, provide for their families, and adapt to their new environment.

EMPLOYMENT AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY
In a public-private partnership between the Office of Refugee Resettlement and hundreds of private businesses throughout the state, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) matches eligible newly arrived neighbors with meaningful employment opportunities so they can contribute to the communities that have welcomed them.
LSF Employment Services include:
-Employment preparation sessions: evaluating work skills of those we serve and helping them prepare for job interviews.
-Intensive placement services: leading clients through job search activities so they can get related work skills until they are employed.
-Job retention and support services: providing counseling and guidance to those we serve so that they keep their jobs and succeed in the workplace.
In response to the need for affordable immigration counseling and assistance services, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) and accredited Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) representatives help people navigate the complex immigration system. This system can be overwhelming and confusing, especially for newcomers who are unfamiliar with US laws and regulations.
Thanks to your support, LSF is here to help, whether it is obtaining assistance to understand important legal matters, submitting and tracking proper visa applications, or ensuring newcomers obtain the right status for employment in the United States.
-LSF counselors assist clients with:
-Applications for citizenship
-General immigration counseling
Post-release services for unaccompanied minors:
LSF Immigration Services also extend to the many unaccompanied minors that arrive here to the United States. Immigrating to a new country can be intimidating and scary, especially for unaccompanied minors that cross the border into the United States at no fault of their own, with no family or support network to assist them.
Building on our core belief in strengthening communities and families, LSF works with partners, federal authorities, and sponsors to provide high-quality post-release services for unaccompanied children in federal custody. These services promote child well-being and safety through a series of comprehensive supportive services.
