Kindergarten - 5th Grade General Studies
The transition to the Core Knowledge Sequence in our Lower Elementary (K-2) grades from our Preschool CK curriculum is seamless.
The Core Knowledge Sequence continues and expands in our Upper Elementary (3-5) grades.
Throughout the school, our superb arts program, as well as our other specialists such as computers and athletics, enrich the program even further.
Early Childhood - Turning 2's-Pre-Kindergarten
In our early childhood program, children achieve an appropriate level of
individual success, self confidence, and love of learning. EC provides the building blocks to help each child thrive academically, while reinforcing social skills and independence.
Hebrew & Jewish Studies
The raison d’etre of any Jewish day school, the Jewish Studies and Hebrew programs, are integrated throughout the school day and in the lives lived by the children.
Beginning in Early Childhood and continuing through kindergarten, we embark on an ambitious commitment to Hebrew Language Instruction within the framework of second language acquisition theory through immersion.
Lehrman’s grade 1-5 Hebrew and Jewish studies revolve around the well-regarded TaL AM curriculum which integrates both subjects, carefully building a vocabulary that supports each as students practice the four essential skills of language: listening, speaking, writing and reading.
Musical Theatre Program
Arts & Musical Theater
One of the remarkable aspects of The Core Knowledge Curriculum is its integration of the arts with other Core Knowledge subjects: history, language arts, and science, while valuing Art and Music as subjects in their own right. Concepts, skills and techniques, and historical and cultural contexts are taught along with personal production. Students are encouraged to become articulate speakers, and independent and creative thinkers. Just as the arts reflect a society and give us insight into a culture, Lehrman Community Day School’s Art and Music Programs reveal a multi-talented, well-educated and well-rounded student body. Each year, Lehrman mounts a full musical theater production involving 3rd through 5th graders.
There is always something for everyone in a PE class at Lehrman: stretching, balance and coordination for the little ones, fundamental skills for the middle years and teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play as they grow older. Through our multi-dimensional curriculum, our physical education staff works with students in Early Childhood through 5th grade.
Lehrman is also a founder and participant in the Jewish Athletic League, where 4th and 5th graders compete against local Jewish day schools.
