The Mission of the Leadership Learning Center at St. John Bosco is to interact with children at an early age to provide them with the leadership skills, academic ability and personal character that will enable them to become the future leaders this community needs to raise families out of poverty and build a better future for all Miamians. This is accomplished by the program's concentration on individualized achievement, self-esteem and community building among peers.
Children rewarded for effort and behavior received bicycles and helmets from a private donor.
Leadership, Education and Achievement with Determination (LEAD) program
At The Leadership Learning Center, we provide a rich variety of after-school activities to 250 children from the Little Havana area in grades K-12 (ages 5-19).
The program emphasizes academic achievement and personal responsibility as a path out of poverty and embeds social skills and leadership qualities into all its activities including homework assistance, physical fitness, nutrition, creative outlets, and family skills building.
Activities are planned and led by certified Miami-Dade County Public School teachers with the assistance of trained teacher's aides and volunteer assistants.
The program addresses the needs of families, as well as students, through the services of its Program Director, a trained and practiced social worker familiar with the challenges and community services present in Miami-Dade County.
