Safer, Smarter Schools Curriculum
Safer, Smarter Schools is an abuse prevention education curriculum designed for Pre-K through Grade 12, created by Lauren's Kids, Inc.. Lauren's Kids is an organization founded by Lauren Book, M.S. Ed. She is a child sexual abuse survivor, child advocate and educator who works to prevent child abuse and help survivors heal, through in-school curriculum, legislative advocacy and speaking engagements, Lauren's Kids works to educate and raise awareness about the growing issue of child sexual abuse. The organization also provides millions of educational and awareness materials through direct mail every year. The overarching goal of the foundation is to prevent sexual abuse through awareness and education, and to help survivors heal with guidance and support.
Currently, the Safer, Smarter Schools curriculum is available for Pre-K/Kindergarten through Grade 12, and is being used in more than 56,000 classrooms in the State of Florida and across the nation.
Walk in My Shoes
Every year the Lauren's Kids team host a statewide awareness and education campaign called the Walk in My Shoes Journey. The walk begins in Key West and progresses north all the way to the state capitol in Tallahassee. Along the way the team hosts community walks, awareness and education events to help educate local communities about the dangers of childhood sexual abuse and how to prevent abuse from happening or continuing.
