2/2
Citizenship, Internet and Intergenerational Empowerment Services for Seniors (CITIES) program benefit and empower elderly/senior residents with Citizenship classes, exams/interview preparation, and assistance to attain US citizenship. They learn basic U.S. history, visit City Hall and meet government officials. The program also has Computer/Internet classes to help them develop or increase computer literacy and social skills. They learned how to send/receive e-mails, explore technology, and research special interests through the Internet/worldwide web. Highlight of the program is 'Intergenerational teaching, learning and mentoring' aimed at bridging the generation gap, as the youth/students share Computer Know-How with senior citizens. Volunteers, particularly students, help elderly residents -- one on one with emails, online web exploration, etc.
