Knowledge of Careers is training the next generation of socially responsible entrepreneurs and industry leaders who channel the success of their self-launched ventures back into their communities. We envision a society where urban schools leverage the innovation of their cities into the education of their students.
We implement a four-year, comprehensive, professional development and social entrepreneurship program to support students and ensure they graduate with all the necessary resources, networks, and hard and soft skills essential for future professional success.
Too often are public school students unaware of the professional opportunities that exist for them upon graduation and exit high school unprepared to take advantage of those opportunities as adults. By working with students throughout their entire high school career we provide consistent and holistic support in career exposure, professional skill development, and social entrepreneurship to equip low-income high-school students with the practical skills, networks, and solutions-oriented mindsets necessary to thrive in the profession of their choosing.

Knowledge of Careers
Knowledge of Careers combats the ‘disconnect’ in low-income communities by implementing a four-year program that puts students on paths toward economic security and social influence. Throughout a student’s high school career, and our four-year program, we give them the knowledge, skills, experiences, and resources necessary for them to excel in competitive, 21st century work environments.
We begin by connecting students to 24 different career professionals who share the work they do and the academic skills they use to be successful. Our speakers expand our students’ knowledge of careers and incite their ambitions by engaging them in novel careers.
Select students are invited to enroll in our rigorous, three year, Professional Skill Development and Entrepreneurship curriculum that gives them the tools and mindsets necessary to take advantage of the opportunities we provide. This curriculum focuses on a range of hard and soft skills essential for success in professional environments and is built around a three year Social Impact Project. In the Social Impact Project, students are expected to identify a problem in their community and develop a sustainable social impact company to address it.
Finally, we invest in our students’ college bound resources (SAT/ACT tutoring, FAFSA support, college counseling, scholarship hunting, essay writing, etc.) to ensure their post-high school success. Our students will not be denied their next step by a missed deadline or any other barrier.
