Rescue-Rehabilitate-Adopt
1/5
We rescue greyhounds that are no longer used for racing, as all greyhounds retire from racing at some point in their lives.
We try to rescue as many as we possibly can because their futures are uncertain after they are no longer wanted.
Our rescue process includes rehabilitating and socialization of the rescued dogs, and creating a profile of each individual to ascertain that when adopted, they go to the right home.
We do home visits to be certain that the prospective family will provide a loving and safe “Forever Home” for our beloved dogs.
None of our rescued greyhounds has ever previously been in a home. They start their new lives and we are there to help ensure a successful transition into their new path as a family pet.
We serve Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward, Palm Beach, Lee and Collier counties.
Community Education and Volunteer Oportunities
2/5
We participate in community events, such as festivals and fairs, career days, schools, nursing homes and libraries. Our goal is to educate the community about greyhounds and their plight, responsible pet ownership and the vital importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.
Many of the families that have adopted from our organization have become passionate volunteers. They volunteer with their dogs in community events and different functions representing Hollydogs and spreading the word about this amazing breed.
The volunteers participate in pet therapy programs and reading to kids programs in libraries and schools. They also volunteer at the kennel premises, doing such important functions as bathing the dogs and helping and socializing them.
Support for Life
3/5
We provide support for life to all our adopters. We train and guide them to help their dog transition "kennel to home" easier, taking into consideration that our greyhounds are adults dogs that have never been in a home. Our support and guidance continues during the life of the dog. We also provide medical help, medicines, and grief counseling.
Greyhounds Going Home
4/5
Greyhounds Going Home is a program we created to help the dogs that we cannot take in due to lack of space. We transport groups of 14 greyhounds at a time to greyhound adoption agencies in states that do not have racing. Most of the racetracks are located in Florida.
With the help of volunteers, we transport the dogs as far as Philadelphia. We have a former shuttle bus and have replaced the seats with crates allowing the dogs to travel comfortable and safely to their destination.
Feral Cat Colony
5/5
We trap, spay or neuter and release feral cats in our area. We have a large concentration in our neighborhood. Many cats live on our premises. We feed and care for over 30 cats 365 days of the year.
We have adopted kittens and tame cats.
