HANDY

LAST UPDATED: October 26, 2017
Education & Youth Development
HANDY’s mission is to achieve positive, lasting change for youth by providing life skills, education, and a supportive community. Since 1985, HANDY has met the needs of more than 50,000 children and family members in Broward County. We embrace, educate, and empower at-risk youth associated with the dependency system, and for some, HANDY is the most stable "family” they have ever known. Each year, HANDY serves over 1,200 individuals in Broward County. HANDY’s LIFE Program provides activities that focus on education, youth development and economic self-sufficiency. All youth receive assessments, LIFE plans and evaluations, intensive case management, counseling and academic support. Additional program activities include tutoring, mentoring, social and recreational activities, emergency needs assistance for food, clothing, housing, education workshops, life skills training, post-secondary educational support, connections to internships and assistance with job placements, service learning projects, and self-advocacy learning.
