The mission of GableStage is to provide the South Florida community with classical, contemporary and new theatrical productions of artistic excellence. We challenge our multicultural audience with innovative productions that entertain as well as confront today’s issues and ideas.
With a focus on nontraditional casting and employing the best of South Florida’s local creative force, GableStage endeavors to meet the needs of its diverse community. GableStage is committed to the enrichment of the local actor, director, designer, technician, and arts administrator by providing opportunities to achieve artistic acclaim in this region.
GableStage believes the future of theatre can be only guaranteed only by the cultivation and development of young audiences. Therefore, the in-house mainstage and in-school touring Educational Programs are major components of GableStage’s programming. Furthermore, GableStage welcomes the opportunity to support nonprofit organizations throughout South Florida, doing important and intentional work locally and nationwide, through the Community Benefit Preview Performance program, as well as making the theatre available to cultural and community groups.

Page to Stage School & Community Tour
Through a partnership with Miami-Dade County Public School's Cultural Passport Program, GableStage
present an annual Page-to-Stage School tour. The
production is adapted and directed by Florida International University (FIU) Associate Professor and Shakespeare
scholar, Phillip Church.
The primary objectives of this program are to expose culturally underserved students to an important work that may speak to their lives or the world today, engage the students with an innovative theatrical performance, allow the students to hear Shakespeare’s words out loud in a creative manner rather than read in a classroom, and to create a conversation around the historical elements of the production versus the storytelling devices used.
Through this educational experience, students are encouraged to seek out live cultural events within the community and hopefully develop an interest in the arts. GableStage strives to educate and enlighten the community, and through educational programming, students, no matter their economic status, are given the opportunity to see live theatre each year—many who have never seen a live performance.
