Feeding South Florida’s mission is to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through innovative programming and education. Feeding South Florida distributes 50.5 million pounds (42 million meals) of food annually, to more than 706,000 individuals through direct-service programs and a local network of approximately 300 nonprofit partner agencies. As the leading domestic hunger-relief organization serving South Florida, Feeding South Florida is the largest provider of emergency food assistance in each county we serve. Providing support for 25 percent of the state’s food insecure population, we distributed more than 16 million pounds of food (13.3 million meals) worth of food to Miami-Dade County alone. More than just a food distribution organization, we also provide benefits application assistance and service families directly through our Choice Pantry Program, School Pantry Program, Mobile Pantry Program, Backpack Program, Summer Meals, and Senior Food Distribution Program. Leading the Hurricane Irma disaster relief efforts for food and water in Miami-Dade County, Feeding South Florida proudly provided more than 3.2 million pounds of supplies to families most impacted by Irma. As a staging site for FEMA, and with a direct set at the Miami-Dade EOC, Feeding South Florida is poised and ready to serve again, should the need arise.
