The Mission of DDF is to promote programs designed to improve the quality of life for those residing in Miami-Dade County from early childhood through the senior years. DDF will achieve its mission by providing and supporting programs that promote the social welfare, health and wellness, academic excellence, cultural enrichment in the community and support organizations whose initiatives are consistent with DDF and Dade County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s programs and projects. These programs and projects include but are not limited to economic and educational development; international awareness and involvement; physical and mental health; and political awareness and involvement initiatives.
Over 30 girls attended the inaugural Enterprising Teen Youth (ETP) Summit which included a local Girl Scout Troop and members of the Miami Suns AAU Basketball Team.
Enterprising Teen Project
The Enterprising Teen Project (ETP) provides educational services to middle/high school students (male and females) that are referred from schools, community and social service agencies.
The specific services are as follows:
(1) The Enterprising Me: Character Building & Life Skills Training;
(2) Nurturing the Fifth Sense: Technology Awareness and Involvement
(3) Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies & Happy Youth: Physical and Mental Health Enrichment
The ETP will provide lectures and workshops facilitated by certified instructors, professionals and corporate executives. Workshops and activities will take place after school hours at area schools, The Dade Deltas Foundation, Inc., corporate offices and community centers.
The Enterprising Me will instruct youth in Character Building & Life Skills Training integrating Self-Esteem, Public Speaking, Entrepreneurship, Academic Counseling and Leadership Development.
Nurturing the Fifth Sense will provide an opportunity for youth to learn the responsible use of social media platforms, enhance communication skills, and increase opportunities for social connections.
Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies & Happy Youth will equip youth with healthy living knowledge and skills that will prepare them physically, emotionally, and socially to meet the challenges of the 21st century by addressing national health issues including nutrition, physical fitness, social and emotional wellness.
