College Summit is a national nonprofit organization that has worked for over 20 years to narrow the college enrollment gap for low-income students. We help high schools shift from being final educational destinations to launch pads for all students' college and career success. In each of our 130 partner schools, we provide engaging curricula and courses to guide students through postsecondary planning; highly effective teacher and principal training; and data and reporting tools for tracking student and school progress toward improved college enrollment goals. The linchpin of our strategy is engaging students not solely as recipients of college access assistance but as dynamic change agents who can build a sustainable college-going culture in their schools and communities.
College Summit transforms the lives of low-income youth by connecting them to college and career. Through partnerships with schools, we work to: 1) design an environment where every student is expected to plan for life after high school (with a strong emphasis on college), and where everyone in the school takes responsibility for making this vision a reality; and 2) build a sustainable system for guiding students through the postsecondary preparation and college application processes.
We use peer leadership, custom curricula, real-time student performance data, and technology to help get high school students from low-income communities to and through college. Our model is unique on the college access landscape in that we use the resources schools already have-committed teachers and influential students-to drive a school-wide culture that sustains higher college enrollment rates.
