The Barnyard After School and Summer Program
Coconut Grove Cares provides free after school care, summer camp and social services for children and families in Miami with financial and domestic hardships. Coconut Grove Cares operates the Barnyard--an enriching community center for children ages 5-13, offering programs focused on education, literacy, mental health, nutrition, art, culture, music, theater, science exploration, fitness, swimming, and parental engagement. The after school and Summer program components include academic enrichment & intervention, Cultural Enrichment, language arts, math & science curriculum, supervised outdoor sports & activities, field trips, swimming lessons, behavior management/conflict resolution, and programs dedicated to teaching students proper nutrition and environmental awareness. The Barnyard contains five open-area classrooms, an indoor stage, dedicated Reading Room, computer lab and classroom, music room, and ceramic work area with a kiln. Fenced outdoor facilities include a state-of-the-art playground with age-appropriate equipment, outdoor stage, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts.
