Casa Valentina's mission is to provide at-risk and former foster care youth with safe affordable housing, life skills, and continued support so that they achieve and maintain self-sufficiency.
To achieve our mission:
* We work within the child welfare system to ensure our residents, and all transitioning foster youth, have access to the resources and services they need to achieve autonomy.
* We conduct community outreach and offer education and training on critical foster care issues to create greater awareness and support for youth emerging from foster care.
Casa Valentina's vision is a community in which all youth receive the care and support they need to reach their full potential.
Casa Valentina's vision is a community in which all foster children receive the care and support they need to reach their full potential.
Miami's young professionals are getting behind the work of Casa Valentina because they believe in the future of our residents. Why do you give?
Our residents are overcomers, and we are excited about the strides they make with Casa Valentina!
When youth feel supported and loved, they embrace the future with open arms.
Our residents are really excited for Give Miami Day! Thank you for reaching out Miami!
Casa is where the heart is. Thank you for thinking of supporting our young women and men.
Our young men and young women know that education is the key to achieving their dreams!
Life Skills - Financial Management
Learning to budget and manage personal finances is an important step on the path to independence for Casa Valentina residents especially as they prepare to leave us. We provide financial literacy training through our workshops. Residents also gain real-life, hands-on experience, as they must pay their monthly program fee to Casa Valentina; purchase food, clothing, and other essential items; pay for mobile phone services; etc. with limited income. The staff develops a financial plan with the residents when they enter and review with them short, intermediate, and long-term goals with them regularly, tracking their progress.
Life Skills - MDCPS
Casa Valentina partners with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to provide our intensive life skills curriculum to current foster & at-risk youth (ages 13-17) in a classroom style setting at four of Miami's largest schools.
Life Skills - Partner Residential Programs
Casa Valentina works closely with partner organizations to provide our intensive life skills curriculum to former foster care and homeless youth (ages 18-24) in other residential programs.
Casa Valentina provides aftercare services & intensive case management, resource referral, & life skills reinforcement to youth who have transitioned out of CV and those within 6 months of exiting in order to support them into post-Casa Valentina independence.
