Gables Bike Tours
Bike Walk Coral Gables presents monthly bike tours focusing on local architecture, history, and the environment. Tours are led by local experts assisted by organizational volunteers. The bike tours were started in 2012 and are presented in partnership with the Coral Gables Museum.
Gables Bike Day
Gables Bike Day is held annually and promotes health, physical activity and bike safety for all ages and activity level. Downtown streets are opened to all cyclists, skaters, parents and children in the community. The event includes guided bike tours throughout Coral Gables, healthy food and drink vendors, farmer’s market, live music, art bike exhibit, scavenger hunt, family activities, giveaways, fitness classes and much more.
Galiano Green: Downtown Coral Gables Community Park
The Galiano Green is a 2016 Public Space Challenge Project that is creating a public green space with seating, shade, and bike amenities on a leftover space along a downtown Gables parking lot. A catalyst project to a downtown greenway, the short term plan is to activate and improve an existing strip of green that residents and visitors can enjoy in the middle of a bustling urban area. The first phase of the Galiano Green will open late 2019 and is made possible by the 2016 Public Space Challenge, a program of The Miami Foundation.
To help new cyclists learn to bike commute or get more comfortable on their bike, Bike Walk Coral Gables offers experienced Bike Mentors that can help choose a bike and accessories; safety check your bike; teach bike safety; plan routes; accompany them on their first ride; provide encouragement; and answer questions.
Tour of Kitchens - Bike Option
Partnering with the Coral Gables Community Foundation's annual Tour of Kitchens, Bike Walk Coral Gables offers participants the option to travel to each location on a bike. Trained ride leaders safely escort the group from one house to the next and offer a great way to participate and enjoy the event.
