The Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute has officially broken ground at Doctors Hospital. Scheduled to open in Summer 2019, the 49,000-square-foot building is located adjacent to Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, FL. The four-story renovation will house all of the Institute’s orthopedic specialties including a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center on the top floor. Currently, Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute serves as a clinical trial site for new orthopedic surgery techniques, novel implants, genetically-engineered cartilage and bone, and revolutionary biologics. The HEAT’s generosity will help the Institute continue to pioneer innovations in orthopedic medicine, and provide ongoing clinical education to the next generation of sports medicine specialists.
Fishermen’s Community Hospital – Our Community, Your Hospital
On September 10, 2017, Fishermen’s Community Hospital, located in Marathon, FL, was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. Located in the heart of the Florida Keys, Fishermen’s serves as a halfway point, with the nearest hospital being 42 miles away. Today, Fishermen’s continues to save lives through a $5-million modular facility. In just nine months, over $7 million has been donated toward the $15-million goal of community support for the new Fishermen’s Community Hospital. Prior to Hurricane Irma’s devastation, Fishermen’s was an all-purpose, critical access hospital offering a 24/7 emergency room, inpatient and outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, lab testing, and physical and occupational therapy. Baptist Health needs your support to construct a new Fishermen’s Community Hospital that will meet the needs of a growing Middle Keys community. Together, we can build the future.

Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute – Vision for Discovery and Innovation
For 30 years, Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute has been pioneering new treatments for heart and vascular conditions and focusing on discovery to improve cardiovascular care. Founded in 1987, the Institute was one of the first centers in the U.S. to treat heart and blood vessels as one entity. With significant philanthropic support, the Institute completed an expansion in 2017 on the facilities at Baptist Hospital campus, and has integrated cardiac and vascular services at all Baptist Health facilities in over 25 locations. An investment in research in this field is vital. Despite countless advancements and new technologies, there are still nearly 2,200 Americans dying of cardiovascular disease every day – or one fatality every 40 seconds. With your philanthropic support of our campaign for discovery and innovation, we can save more lives today and in the future.
