Faith Based Organizations
Our mission is to create hope and opportunity through literacy and education in order to improve individual lives and raise self-esteem. Founded in 1961, we are a faith-based organization providing life-changing programs in adult literacy, basic education, preschool, conversational English and jobs skills. Our programs are accessible to those most in need, as they are offered free of charge to students. We also provide complimentary textbooks. By teaching to read and write in a language the student already speaks fluently and training volunteer teachers from the community, we bring down the barriers to learning. 1 in 7 working-age youth and adults are unable to realize their true potential due to low literacy. Teaching students with dignity, respect and without stigma has helped many families escape the vicious cycle of illiteracy, poverty, poor health, crime, and unstable family situations. We partner with churches, community organizations and service groups in order to broaden our reach.
